This article is used when you want to bulk edit issues in your Jira project.
This action can only be performed by SecDevOps Administrators or Project Administrators. It is always a good idea to start your bulk queries off with "project=<enter your project>" to ensure you do not corrupt any 'public reference use' projects.
Step-by-step guide
- Log into Jira and in the purple menu bar, select Issues→ Search for issues.
- In the Search bar, use the 'wizard' to help compose your query. In this example, the all issues in the TEST project for a specific assignee and replace it with another user. As you type, the wizard will complete the query for you.
- Begin by typing pro in the search box and then select project
- Select =
- Select your project from the drop down list
- Select AND
- Select the field (for this example, assignee)
- Select =
- Begin typing the assignee name and select from the list. This is the person who is currently assigned the issue.
- Click on the Search button
- The results will be displayed.
- On the right hand side of the page, just beneath the purple menu bar, select Tools→Bulk Change: all 13 issues(s)
*NOTE: it shows how many issues will be changed and you must click on that to progress to the next screen. - Click on the top checkbox just under the Next button. This will automatically select all issues for change (or select a subset of those items to be changed in bulk). Click the Next button.
- To change a field, select Edit Issues and then Next
- In this example, we are changing the assignee field. Click Change Assignee and either type the name in the field and select the new user, or use the Assign to me hyperlink to assign to yourself.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and uncheck the Send mail for this update if you do not want to broadcast the changes to the reporter, admins, and watchers.
- Click the Next button
- Review the pending changes and if you approve, click Confirm
- The Bulk Operation progress bar will be displayed, click Acknowledge when 100% complete.
