Users in the project's admin group should be able to perform these changes.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Login to Jira and navigate your way to the project to be changed.
  2. Click on Project Settings () in the lower left navigation.
  3. Click on Users and roles
    1. Click on the Edit defaults in in the upper right panel
    2. Begin to type the new Project Lead's name in the text box. Click on the user
    3. Click on the Update button
