In general, all user management is controlled through security groups in the Leidos Active Directory (AD). As long as your project is granting permission to the project groups. you only need to edit the Users and Roles if you want to grant temporary permission to a user already in your project. This allows you to manage your users already in your project's security group to be changed for short term assignment. For more permanent changes we strongly recommend you submit a SDO Service Desk ticket to Add/Remove Users. Use this article when you want to control Read-Only access to your Jira or Confluence project.
Step 3 and/or 4 can only be completed by a user with Project Administrator permissions.
THIS IS A LEAST PRIVILEGE MODEL - therefore if you add a user to a different role, they will have the least privilege granted to them.
For Confluence, you must request help from the SDO Service Desk Team
Step-by-step guide
- If the users are already members of your sdo.project-xxx.users group the skip to Step 3 (Jira) or Step 5 (Confluence)
- You need to add the 'read-only' users to the sdo.project-xxx.users group for access to Jira or Confluence
- Open a SDO Service Desk request to Add/Remove Users. List the new users you want to grant access to your project and indicate which ones you want to be granted 'read-only' permission in the description of the request
- When the SDO Service Desk request has been complete, proceed to Step 3 (Jira)
- Open your project in Jira
- Go to Project Settings by using the in the lower left panel.
- Go to Users and Roles in the middle panel about 1/2 way down the column
- Click on the Add user to role in the upper right corner
- In the popup, enter the individual user to be added as read-only (RO) and select Read Only from the pull down list under Role
- Repeat for each Read-Only user
- The SDO Service Desk team will manage the Read-Only permissions for Confluence.
