Use these instructions if you have an export of a Confluence project space that needs to be imported into a new Confluence instance.
You will need to be a Confluence Administrator to execute these steps. If you are a Project Administrator and you need to import your project's space from another Confluence instance, please go to the SecDevOps Service Desk and open a New Project request. Be sure to select Import when completing the request.
Be sure you have access to the project space zip file to be imported. This does not have to be located on the Confluence server; however, it must be accessible from the system where you will be logging into Confluence application via the browser (local laptop).
Step-by-step guide
- Log into Confluence application as a user with Administrator privileges.
- Click on the Administration and enter your password.
- Go to the General configuration option
- Scroll to the Administration section and click on the Backup & Restore link.
- Under the Upload and restore a site/space backup section
- Check Build Index in the checkbox (it may already be checked).
- Click on the Choose File button and navigate to the project's space zip file.
- Click on Upload and Restore link.
- Wait for the import to complete.
- Click on the Spaces link in the top menu bar and go to Space Directory. The imported space should be visible.
Depending on the project space configuration, this activity may require follow up for user management updates, hyperlink updates, and attachment updates.
